The Argument Essay

Twelve years old is too young to have an iPhone. First, smart phones are a huge distraction in today's society. Giving a child an iPhone at the age of twelve exposes them to the harsh world of the internet. At that age children are very naïve and would assume that they have to live up to the internet expectations. Apps are commonly used on iPhones, they can be very distracting and time consuming. Furthermore, it will cause a child to lose focus in school. Instead of having an iPhone young children should focus more on reading books, staying active, and doing extra curriculum activities. Some may insist that a child would need an iPhone to have a way to contact someone in the case of an emergency. However, at the age of twelve children should not be left unattended and should always be under adult supervision. Twelve year olds should focus their education and discovering themselves. Therefore they should not be allowed to have an iPhone.
